A Whirlwind of Romance at Burtonfields Hall

Nestled in the enchanting Yorkshire countryside, Burtonfields Hall emerges as a dreamy haven for couples seeking a wedding venue that exudes timeless charm. The 19th-century country house, located just a short drive from York, offers a captivating blend of tradition and elegance.

The lush acres of parkland provide an idyllic backdrop for the celebration of love, making it the perfect destination for your special day.

With hire prices ranging from £3500 to £12,000, depending on the time of year and the duration of your booking, Burtonfields Hall offers a spectrum of options to accommodate your wedding vision.

From the delicate bloom of spring to the warm embrace of autumn, each season at Burtonfields brings its unique touch to your celebration.

Bedrooms That Whisper Romance

As the sun sets on your magical day, what could be more enchanting than retiring to one of Burtonfields Hall’s nine exquisite bedrooms? Each room, adorned with Edwardian elegance, beckons you into a world of refined comfort.

The Bridal Suite, affectionately known as Bedroom 1, boasts glorious views and abundant natural light, setting the perfect stage for your preparations. The luxurious bathroom, featuring a double shower and a double-ended roll-top bath, adds a touch of romance that lingers in the memory.

From the sophisticated ambiance of Bedroom 5 with its masculine tones and black roll-top bath to the almost exotic allure of Bedroom 7 with its chinoiserie and birds of paradise, each room tells a unique story.

The fully accessible ground floor Bedroom 9 ensures that every guest experiences the luxury and splendour synonymous with Burtonfields Hall.

Culinary Delights: A Feast for the Senses

Burtonfields Hall goes the extra mile to tantalise your taste buds with a diverse selection of culinary delights. Instead of confining you to an in-house catering team, the venue collaborates with five outstanding local caterers.

From Dom’s Kitchen crafting bespoke menus to Nomad Catering offering spit-roasted meats and barbecues, the options are as varied as your preferences.

Tastes Divine, Homegrown Hospitality, and Purple Chilli Events complete the culinary lineup, each bringing their unique flair to the table. Whether you crave formal fine dining, sharing platters, or grazing feasts, your wedding feast at Burtonfields promises to be a gastronomic journey.

Marquee Magic on the South-Facing Lawn

For those envisioning a wedding with 70 to 130 guests, Burtonfields Hall introduces its exquisite pole marquee. Set against the picturesque south-facing lawn, the marquee provides a stunning setting with clear sides that can be rolled up in fine weather.

Guests can revel in panoramic views of the gardens, the historic house, and the sprawling countryside.

The marquee option at Burtonfields offers a perfect blend of outdoor charm and indoor comfort, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for your celebration.

Seamless Perfection with Wedding Coordinators

Planning a wedding can be a daunting task, but at Burtonfields, a team of dedicated wedding coordinators led by the charismatic Will is ready to turn your dreams into reality.

Whether you’re a meticulous planner or prefer a more laid-back approach, the coordinators work closely with you and your suppliers to ensure every detail is accounted for.

Meet Will, your guiding star through the wedding planning process. As a planner, coordinator, and the owner, Will is committed to being by your side from the first inquiry to the on-the-day coordination.

His wealth of advice and extensive network of suppliers ensures that your journey towards your dream wedding is not only stress-free but filled with excitement.

Spaces That Echo with History and Elegance

As you step into the grandeur of Burtonfields Hall, the array of exquisite spaces at your disposal unfolds like chapters in a captivating love story. Each room, meticulously designed and steeped in history, presents an opportunity to weave your own tale of romance.

The Billiard Room: Bathed in natural light and offering panoramic views of the parkland, the billiard room stands as a testament to arts and crafts architecture. Built in the 1890s, this opulent space with carved woodwork and an ornate stucco ceiling can host up to 120 people for ceremonies or parties, and up to 76 for dining.

The Dining Room: Sumptuous and inviting, the dining room is a perfect setting for your wedding feast. In summer, the doors open onto the south-facing terrace, creating a light and airy ambiance. In winter, drawn curtains and a roaring fire make it a cozy haven for an unforgettable meal with friends and family.

The Drawing Room: Luxuriate in the lap of elegance. Whether it’s an afternoon tea or a glass of champagne, the drawing room offers a refined space to relax. With plush furnishings and unbroken views of the countryside, it’s an ideal spot for quiet moments or celebratory toasts.

The Hall: Welcome your guests in style at the lovingly restored hall. Serving as the hub connecting various reception rooms, the hall offers a warm and inviting space for your guests to mingle before flowing naturally onto the south-facing terrace.

The Grounds: Burtonfields takes pride in its expansive grounds, ensuring unbroken views of the surrounding countryside from every vantage point. With lush lawns, mature trees, and manicured gardens, the grounds provide an idyllic setting for marquee weddings, garden parties, or a leisurely game of croquet.

The Library: For those seeking a cozy retreat, the library beckons with its crackling fire. Ideal for a quiet catch-up or a nightcap, it adds an extra layer of intimacy to the rich tapestry of spaces Burtonfields has to offer.

The Story Behind Burtonfields Hall

Every brick of Burtonfields Hall whispers the tale of its rich history, dating back to its inception in 1837. Designed by architect Antony Salivin in the Italianate villa style for Charles Darley, the house has evolved through the hands of different owners, each leaving their mark.

William Mountain Harrison, who acquired the estate in 1896, enlisted York architect W H Brierly to enhance the property. The grand billiard room, adorned with parquet floors, wood paneling, and a vaulted ceiling, stands as a testament to the lavish parties and gatherings it has hosted over the years.

Reginald Harrison Bush, the next custodian, further expanded and altered the house, adding extensions to formal rooms, bay windows, and a second floor. A local community enthusiast, Reginald embedded himself in the parish council and cricket club, hosting memorable village fetes and lavish parties.

In 2019, a restoration and renovation project commenced, aiming to breathe new life into the property while preserving its beautiful features. Burtonfields Hall, with its ornate cornices and high-level craftsmanship, invites guests to step back in time while enjoying the comforts of the present.

" Ray was absolutely incredible and I would 100% recommend. On the day, he brought all the laughs and positive vibes, effortlessly putting all our guests at ease.  The photos are absolutely incredible. Ray also created a highlight film for us which was amazing! He recorded so many great moments and it meant we didn’t need to book a videographer/content creator too. He really is amazing and we would definitely recommend. "

CHOOSE THE RIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER

Right, let’s start by saying you’re not just buying ‘nice photos’ – we live in a world with so many nice instagram feeds, but it’s not just aesthetics. I’ve seen loads of photographers who have a large majority of their instagram feeds/website from content days, workshops etc. (no pressure, no time constraints, models, perfect setups)

A nice instagram grid or website doesn’t tell you if they can handle chaos, keep you from shitting your pants before you go down the aisle, read the room, move portraits later in the timeline as you booked a live singer for the reception and you actually want to listen to them. That stuff doesn’t live on pretty feeds – It lives in experience. (350+ weddings over 10 years, I got you covered)

The real risk isn’t just bad photos, it’s a bad fit. Feeling awkward, being dragged around, missing the good bits because someone was too busy staging ‘the perfect shot’. So here’s the meat and bones of it: don’t ask yourself ‘do we like their photos?’ – instead ask yourself ‘do we trust this person to show up on the day and smash it out the park’ (read my reviews).

Once you realise that, you stop scrolling for the prettiest grid and start looking for the person, the vibe, the energy you want to spend your entire day with, someone who will sing along to the fresh prince of bel air during bride prep, someone who will knock out some body popping on the dance floor before capturing the bridesmaid whacking out the perfect worm – and if that ends up being me – happy bloody days!!

Real moments over fake poses

My goal on your wedding day is simple, to tell your story creatively and authentically. From the moment you book until your gallery is delivered, I’m there for you, documenting every moment in a natural, unposed way while adding a touch of creativity to make the images truly yours.

I love leaving a wedding feeling like part of the family. Couples often say, “It felt like having a friend capture our day,” and that’s exactly how it should be. You’ll usually find me right in the action, laughing with guests and capturing moments from up close. I believe the best photos come from being fully immersed in the day, not hiding at the back with a long lens. When your friends and family feel comfortable with me, that’s when I can document the most genuine moments.

That’s why connection matters so much. I want to capture your wedding from within, like a friend who just happens to have some very expensive cameras.

" The BEST photographer and person ever. Ray really knows his stuff and his expertise and skills made for a seamless day. Ray provided hybrid coverage (photo + film), we are honestly both speechless. We knew the pictures would be good but they really were like something out of a magazine. How he had time to also capture the day via video. I’ll never know! Everyone at the wedding commented on how special Ray was and how he felt like part of the family! There wasn’t a person he didn’t make smile, he’s a true legend "
