Originally constructed by Thomas Powys in 1731, the estate reflects a rich narrative that stretches back to medieval times. Berwick House became part of the Angell-James family legacy in 1871 when James Watson, a Birmingham cheese-monger, took ownership and began extensive renovations. His influence remains through the famous Berwick Jersey Herd, a historic cattle herd still thriving today.
